Nice picture, but if it's from 1954:

(1) The Monitor up in the corner is obviously a floor-standing TV. Note the channel-selector knob on top. Unlikely to be used as a computer monitor!

(2) The printer:
(a) Has the paper doing an unlikely zig to the left as it exits.

(b) Looks just like a Decwriter III which came out circa 1980, not 1954.

Yes, as I said, the story is too good to be true (try following the link).

The main part of the apparatus has tentatively been ID'd as part of the control system of a nuclear power plant.

The different lighting effects and shadows make it a fairly obvious photoshop job too. But certainly good enough to fool CBS.
