Look at the LHC; it was only possible thanks to the collaboration between many countries - including Australia. It cost billions of dollars (too much for one nation) but the potential scientific discoveries - e.g. Higgs, supersymmetry, and even extra dimensions - would be mind-blowing. Not to mention the engineering benefits that have already been reaped.

Let's face it, the U.S is staring down an economic abyss after fighting costly and useless wars - but, in the field of space exploration, it probably has the world's best technical know-how. This means that any meaningful space program would need international cooperation. We're already seeing such cooperation with things like the planned Square Kilometre Array Telescope. That's the way of the future :)Robnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5573426.post-16526149508239029162010-12-30T07:57:43.013+11:002010-12-30T07:57:43.013+11:00That is just how the U.S. government is designed. ...That is just how the U.S. government is designed. I think it's extremely dysfunctional, and I think it would be a massive improvement were the U.S. to adopt a semi-presidential system like France.cornincenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5573426.post-17628918748978743142010-12-30T01:46:59.583+11:002010-12-30T01:46:59.583+11:00Lauren,
