  1. I don't like it. It makes false claims about the holocaust which was ethnic cleansing, extended to so called unwelcome life like mentally disabled and people from the LGBT spectrum and not about religion and faith.
So while it is important to remind of the shoa and the holocaust its a shame to hijack it for, I assume, political reason by someone.

  2. Bad Hair Day,

Were this my blog I would lecture you something vicious. But this is Zoe's blog, so I shall refrain. I will note that you expand on the definition of "obtuse" in a manner that causes wolverines to experience bowel emptying dread.

So what you think was the killing of multible millions was about? Religion? The number of 6 million jews is well known, but obviously not how germans determed who a jew is. And forgotten are all the romas, mentally disabled and gay?

There where genocides with a agenda like this, but the german genocide was not one of it.

  4. It was about Religion all right. Both Roosevelt's New Deal and the NSDAP's "reforms" were about National Socialism.

Such ideologies are indistinguishable from more conventional Religions.

But only one of them exterminated unbelievers. Jews, Poles, Gypsies, Communists, Gays, and other "enemies of the state". Those who did not conform.

Trying to explain all of that in the 20 words or so you have in a comic strip is like trying to explain the shape of the Earth.

You can say "the Earth is Spherical"... and be wrong. Because the approximation is that it's an oblate spheroid, with irregularities (mountains etc), then there's the distortion of space-time by rotation and mass-concentrations, then there's tectonics, and the fact that much of the core with the extreme mass densities is liquid, so the shape is not the same from millisecond to millisecond...

But saying "it's spherical" is better than saying "it's flat". It captures the essence.

  5. BHD,

Wiley's point still stands, and it would stand whether he was talking about gays, gypsys, social-democrats, or Slavs. What the Nazis did was wrong, and we need to let our descendants know about it so maybe, just maybe, they'll oppose such things in the future. The fact he chose an elderly Jewish man to make his point makes no damn difference.

You make your point simple for a child, that's it's a bad thing to hurt people for being what they are. The fine distinctions can come later, when the child is able to handle them. Your way would just confuse and upset them, and turn them away. Focus BHD, focus, and let the world expand for the child when the child is ready for that expansion.

Anonymous commenters - please add a signature (doesn't have to be your real name) on each post of yours. Anne O'Namus, Norm D. Ploom, Angry from Kent, Demosthenes, or even your real initials, it doesn't matter.

Commenters are expected to be polite to each other, but the same standard doesn't apply to comments regarding me.

Australian commenters are very very strongly advised to publish anonymously. Sydney alone has more defamation actions than the entire USA and UK. Nearly double that of the UK in fact.

As Google does not reliably inform me that a comment has been posted, and I have no control over first publication, I assert that all comments are innocently disseminated under the NSW DEFAMATION ACT 2005 - SECT 32 and similar acts.
