Shameless Appeal for Cash

There's someone who needs $300 US, and needs it very soon. I've emptied my paypal account, and that's the only way I can help her in the timeframe needed. So if anyone has been thinking of making a donation, large (and for me that means over $10) or small, now is a very good time.

UPDATE - You don't have to have a PayPal account to donate - I upgraded my account to accept credit card payments awhile ago. Least I could do, really.

  1. So we can see how close we're getting, I'll mention that I hit the tipjar for $30US.

  2. Thanks! I'll be sending personal letters too. So far we're at $70. That means we've reached the target for the 19th, but the balance has to come in by the 21st. Really close timing!

You're making a real difference, BTW.

  3. Want to tell us just a little more about what it's for? ...if this is a contribution towards a nefarious plot to take over the world, I want to know. I for one welcome our Australian overlord!

  4. i'll also like to know basic details, ie helping bribe an umpire so OZ wins the latest cricket game is ok, donating money to help buy glasses (that are not yellow) for a 16 year old isn't.

  5. A delayed tax refund, a reduction of working hours, unexpected medical bills, and suddenly the electricity is due and not enough to pay it. Not too bad a problem usually, but another case where if a transwoman can't provide a good home, even for a few days, she loses custody. She might be OK in a year, with a few thou put aside so even emergencies don't cause disasters, but she's living too close to the edge at the moment so even minor problems have grave consequences.

I know the feeling, having had close to $50,000 in unexpected medical bills not covered by insurance in the last 3 years.

  7. $120 in just 3 days - which with other donations just may have been enough. Contact takes awhile, as the phone was the first to go.

Anonymous commenters - please add a signature (doesn't have to be your real name) on each post of yours. Anne O'Namus, Norm D. Ploom, Angry from Kent, Demosthenes, or even your real initials, it doesn't matter.

Commenters are expected to be polite to each other, but the same standard doesn't apply to comments regarding me.

Australian commenters are very very strongly advised to publish anonymously. Sydney alone has more defamation actions than the entire USA and UK. Nearly double that of the UK in fact.

As Google does not reliably inform me that a comment has been posted, and I have no control over first publication, I assert that all comments are innocently disseminated under the NSW DEFAMATION ACT 2005 - SECT 32 and similar acts.
