The idea is not new. Military History mavens will recognise this M4 Sherman from WW II.
Of course, it can go the other way too... a WW II British Churchill tank pretending to be a common-or-garden AEC Matador 4x4 truck.

We do that here in the U.S. as well. Recently the Executive and Legislative branches authorized using this model with some success in fooling anyone already expecting the real thing. They can be seen in use throughout Washington D.C.: http://bit.ly/cqNU9v
